The American Field Service program is based on the idea that if people of different countries can learn to communicate with each other, both people will have had a fuller life, and the likelihood of war will be decreased. Thousands of A.F.S. students live in foreign countries
for a year. This year, for the first time, D.H.S. had two exchange students, Phillip Peter Hebblethwaite from Tasmania and Nina Frisak from Norway. The A.F.S. Club spends much of its time sponsoring fund-raising activities to help finance the exchange students' stay.
